Sean Byrne joined the club in Spring 2019 and is an experienced LTA Level 4 Coach who heads up the Gosforth Tennis Coaching Programme. Sean will run our popular favourite classes as well as some exciting new ones, which will include Junior and Adult groups, Club Team coaching as well as Private Individual lessons. Private lessons are a great opportunity for players of all levels to brush up on general or specific areas of your game whether it’s an ad hoc, weekly or monthly lesson give Sean a call or catch him at the club for a chat.
Non Members are welcome to have up to 6 lessons at the club prior to joining as a member.
Sean is DBS checked, is Safeguarding Certified and has a current First Aid Certificate to give you the assurance of the highest standards of coaching and welfare at the Club,

Biog: Sean is a career coach who has recently re-located to Newcastle from London having met and married a local NE girl. He is an LTA Level 4 licensed and accredited coach and most recently worked full time as a key member of the coaching team at Wentworth Surrey where he worked for 7 years. Prior to this Sean was the Head Pro at Woking LT&CC where he oversaw 250 juniors in the coaching programme and 40 Teams.
Sean has been teaching since the 90’s in the London and Surrey area and also toured as coach with a women’s British No 1 at this time.
An accomplished player himself Sean played competitive tennis as a Junior representing his County and Country. Sean also worked for a time with one of the major racket companies Wilson and the keen tennis movie fans will also spot Sean in the movie ‘Wimbledon’.
